如果没有足够的字符可用来确保读字节请求且指定被读的字符数为一个非零值，那么在足够的字符被接收完成或暂停时间到之前，操作将不能完成。读字节操作完成时，端口状态显示读操作完成的原因(字符被接收完成或暂停时间到)。状态字在读操作完成(暂停或所有的数据已经被接收)之前不被刷新。如果暂停时间被置为0，读字节COMM_ REQ保持在待处理状态直到被请求的数据接收完或该功能被取消。
